Gary Sullivan, Chairman Thames gateway South Essex Partnership : "I got involved with Thames Gateway South Essex because I was born here, my business is based her, but more importantly South Essex is actually London’s powerhouse, London’s playground. South Essex is coming alive! A great place to come, live and do business."

Voiceover (male): If you travel to Southend sea front, its very different to what it looked like ten years ago, the new developments, new flats and the work they’ve done at the pier. From a family perspective we use the beach a great deal, we go down there after work and take the kids down there, go swimming, go in the mud and a have a barbeque.
Voiceover (Female) : "We go to Langdon Hills, which is just up the road and take the dogs for a walk. Its quiet and there’s no trains going past, which is really lovely."
Voiceover (male): Down at Shoeburyness they do the kite flying on the surfboard, I’m trying to get on to that".
Danny Crates : "Hello, my name is Danny Crates. I’m the Para Olympic 800metre champion and more recently world champion. I’ve always been proud where I come from and this part of South Essex.
I do think though sometimes we forget the opportunities and the huge diverse range of opportunities that we do have in this area. I’m out there running in the parks, in the woodlands and out on the streets. I think sometimes it is very easy to forget what we have on very own doorstep.
So my challenge to you is get out there and find out what really makes you come alive. Whether it be a business opportunity or whether it be a sporting activity, hobby or pass time. Take an example from these youngsters behind us. Lets just get out there and what makes us happy."
